Car rental in Dusseldorf

Driving in Düsseldorf

In Germany, you can rent a car with a US driver’s license. International licenses are accepted but not legally required.

Driving in Düsseldorf is relatively easy, and there are plenty of parking options for cars, including street parking and multi-story garages. However, it is generally recommended to avoid the historic center where the streets are narrow and parking can be difficult.

In Düsseldorf itself the speed limit is 50 km/h. On autobahns (federal highways) and highways, it is 130 km/h. The limit on other roads is 100 km/h, and is reduced further in residential areas and around schools.

It is commonly believed that autobahns have no speed limits. However, around 50 percent of them do, and there can be heavy fines for dangerous driving on any road in Germany. There are no toll charges for private cars on German roads.
