Rent cars for young drivers

Especially those who live in urban areas do not always need their own car. However, if a trip to the countryside or a road trip with friends is planned or you want to drive home to your parents - it is convenient to have a rental car available. That's why Europcar allows you to rent a car from the age of 18, provided you have held your driver's license for one year. We have briefly summarized below what young drivers should bear in mind.

Requirements for rental car from 18 years

As a young driver, the following is important:
  • You must be at least 18 years old
  • You must have held your driver's license for at least one year
  • There is a small additional fee, the so-called "young driver fee".
In addition, it is also helpful for first time renters to know the following market conditions:
  • Only registered drivers are allowed to drive the rental car. Additional drivers must also be registered in the rental contract.
  • The rental car can be driven in most European countries, but there are some restrictions that must be observed (see Terms & Conditions under point 2. "Driving outside Austria").

Drivers over 18 should also have the greatest possible freedom. However, due to the often higher risk of young drivers, the prices per day and the range of vehicles on offer when booking a rental car may differ. Nevertheless, you can rely on the usual attractive prices, comprehensive service and, above all, current vehicles from well-known brands such as VW, Audi, SEAT, ŠKODA or Cupra at Europcar Austria. Of course, there is also the possibility to book a rental car worldwide.
