In Chile this coverage includes a limited third party liability until USD 20.000. Excess: In case of accident / own damages or third parties involved, excess surcharge value will depend on car group. Amounts will be between USD 300 to USD 2.500 depending at car group. Amounts are subject to change. Deductible amount will be charged to customer whatever customer is culpable or not. Signed statement of damages at the station will be mandatory otherwise full damage will be charged. Premium Packages:
Zero excess in the event of damage to the vehicle as a result of collision, theft and total loss of car, SVALF Coverage for roll over. Zero excess in the event of damage to the windscreen, headlights or tires. SPAI – Super Personal accident protection cover up to USD 214.000 and medical expenses USD 7.100 in case of injury to the driver and / or passenger. At Third Party Damages the coverage is up to USD 53.500. Minimum age for to obtain this insurance is 26 year old of main driver. This insurance is not available for premium or luxury cars. Declination of CDW Coverage:
In case rate does not include CDW, passengers are allowed to decline CDW, USD 2.000 will be blocked plus guarantee to the credit card. A declination Statement has to be signed. If the amount requested can’t be covered by Credit Card for possible damages to own and third parties, CDW will be mandatory. Signed statement of damages at the station will be mandatory otherwise full damage will be charged. Cost of transportation of the rented vehicle as a result of accident (towing service) is not included. Signed statement also will be required in case of an accident or damages even if passenger declines CDW. Full damages will be charged to the credit card. CDW will be mandatory in case of cross border. Third parties insurances provided by credit cards and external companies are not allowed to cross border.
Other excess:
Roll Over or Turn Over excess, Total Loss, Car Theft excess of approx. USD 841 + VAT will be charged even if the car is covered by CDW. Signed statement of damages at the station will be mandatory otherwise full damage will be charged. Cost of transportation of the rented vehicle as a result of accident (towing service) is not included. Amount is subject to change.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI):
Provides cover against personal injury death, medical expenses. It cost USD 2.52 + VAT per day.
Supplement Liability Insurance (SLI):
SLI extends liability from USD 20.000 to USD 267.000. It covers third party damages and liability. It must be taken in addition to CDW. It cost USD 15.13 + VAT.
Super Collision Damage Waiver (SPCDW):
Eliminates excess to zero only for own damages. Third party responsibility still will have an excess. It must be taken in addition to CDW. It cost USD 10.08 + VAT per day and it only will be activated with correspond Signed statement at office. Theft Waiver (SPTHW):
It eliminates excess to zero only in case of car theft. Cost USD 21.85 per day + VAT. Signed statement of damages at the station will be mandatory otherwise full damage will be charged. Cost of transportation of the rented vehicle as a result of accident (towing service) is not included.
SVALF Coverage:
It eliminates the excess from USD 1.000 to zero in case of roll over. Cost USD 21 per day + VAT. Signed statement of damages at the station will be mandatory otherwise full damage will be charged. Cost of transportation of the rented vehicle as a result of accident (towing service) is not included.
WWI Coverage:
Cover damages to windscreen, mirrors and cutting of tires resulting from a normal use of the vehicle. It cost USD 12.60 per day + VAT. Signed statement of damages at the station will be mandatory otherwise full damage will be charged. Cost of transportation of the rented vehicle as a result of accident (towing service) is not included.
Guarantee:
Only Credit Card, no cash accepted. Card holder and owner should be the same as the reservation and renting driver. Amounts blocked on credit card will be between USD 600 and USD 3.100, depending method of payment and if it includes CDW. By this guarantee, renters accept a late charge as a result of any extra not included in rate.
Prepayments:
If the passenger returns the car before of the agreed rental period for any reason, it will not be entitled to a refund for any unused days. No refund won’t be given to customer fails to collect the vehicle at the rental start time and has not cancelled.
Damages or Accidents:
Damages or accident should be reported at the signed statement and presented to the nearest or pick up Europcar Station in order to activate CDW in 12 hours since the accident occurred. Signed statement of damages is mandatory to activate any coverage. In case the signed statement of damages is not presented to Europcar Chile full values of damages to own and third parties involved will be charge to the customer’s credit card. Signed statement of damages at the station will be mandatory otherwise full damage will be charged. Cost of transportation of the rented vehicle as a result of accident (towing service) is not included.
Route Assistance/ Vehicle Recovery:
Route assistance only includes mechanical issues in route, such as battery or tire. It could be a cost associated depending assistance. Passengers will be delivered to a safe place or to another Europcar Station. Car replacement subject to availability and must be requested to the station. In case of accident the passenger will be fully responsible for any transportation or tow truck cost of the car to the Europcar Station. This service is limited by geographical distance or if the car is outside Chilean territory.

It is only available at non-airport locations. It is upon request to reservations@europcar.cl with a valid credit card and expiration date except Full Credit reservation. O N L Y to Argentina possible. Seven days advanced reservations is required. Renters must send to reservations@europcar.cl a scanned driving license and passport, credit card number with expiration date at least 7 days before reservation date. Changes / cancelations only accepted before 48 hours (working days) otherwise full value will be charged as well as no shows will be fully charged. Europcar Chile will not be responsible if the renter is not able to cross the border, if renter did not send all required paperwork within the correct period. Third party liability TPL/SLI:
All the vehicles in Europcar's fleet are insured against bodily injury and/or property damage that you might inflict on a third party as a result of an accident involving the vehicle. The scope of protection for this basic liability cover TPL is $100.
What is a Third Party?
Third Parties are all people, animals or things that are outside of your rental vehicle.
Supplemental Third Party Liability SLI:
Costa Rica's specific regulations and Europcar Costa Rica's insurance policies require that all Third Parties are protected and taken care of in case of any injury inflicted for a minimum amount of USD$1,000,000. This is why, unless the customer can present VALID and WRITTEN proof (from the Bank that has issued their credit card) stating that his insurance includes Third Party Liability for up to the amount mentioned, customers are required to purchase a SUPPLEMENTAL THIRD PARTY LIABILITY INSURANCE SLI, which elevates the protection from USD $100 to USD $1,000,000.
If the rate that the customer has booked does not include insurances or protection, purchase our SLI protection IS REQUIRED FOR RENTAL, in our service counter unless a written valid proof or evidence of credit card liability protection is presented. Europcar Costa Rica does not accept any other private Third Party Liability insurances, without exception.
Collision Damage Waiver CDW :
CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) concerns damage to the rental vehicle.
Unless Europcar is able to recover the cost of its damages from an identified liable Third Party, the renter/driver is responsible for all damages made to or loss of the vehicle occurred during the course of the rental. This liability can generally be waived against payment of a fixed charge per rental day. It should, however, be noted that for those renters who have purchased such protection, a residual non-waiveable amount (or "excess") will be applied in the event of damage to or loss of the vehicle.
What does this mean?
The COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER CDW protection covers damages made to the car you are renting, when you are involved in an accident, overturn or other event that can cause this damage. CDW does not apply for tires and windshield.
This is the ONLY cover with an excess or deductible, and the amount depends on the category of car rented (going from $900 to $2500). The excess amount must be held as a guarantee deposit on the main drivers’ credit card during the rental. No cash deposits are allowed. When the vehicle is returned in the same condition it went out, the excess amount is refunded on the card.
Is CDW mandatory in Costa Rica?
CDW cover is mandatory when the customer cannot present written valid proof or evidence of credit card CDW protection in Latin America, Costa Rica, in off-road conditions and for the category requested (and YES, we will verify this information with your bank). We strongly recommend our customers to purchase Europcar Costa Rica’s basic protection CDW, in order to enjoy their trip without the worry.
Please be aware of the following:
• If you elect to be covered by your card’s insurance and decline Europcar's protections, you are also declining Europcar's FREE recovery and assistance service. Europcar Costa Rica will charge service fees (that will vary depending on customer’s location) for recovery or assistance if requested by a customer who has declined Europcar’s CDW protection. Guarantee deposits for customers who decline our CDW protection range from $3000 to $5000, depending on the vehicle category.
• The extent of coverage provided by credit cards varies and is usually subject to certain restrictions, in particular concerning the maximum length of rental and the type of vehicle which can be covered. Major credit cards generally offer a collision and damage protection to their GOLD and PLATINUM members. These "covers" are generally very specific to the area you are traveling to (Latin America, Europe, Asia, etc.), to the type of vehicle reserved and to the roads the vehicle is driven upon.
• Europcar strongly advises you to contact your Credit Card organization before your rental and provide written details/proof of your coverage for Costa Rica. Europcar Costa Rica will not accept credit card insurance plans without written proof, without exception, and reserves the right to accept or not accept any other insurance plan.
Super Collision Damage Waiver SCDW :
The SUPER COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER, optional and additional, frees the customer from all liability for paying damages or CDW’s excess amount in case of accident, theft, or total loss, except in cases of negligence.
This insurance must be requested for each rental contract, and Europcar Costa Rica reserves the right to offer and/or suspend it at any time if it considers it is being misused.
This cover is not applicable for tires or personal belongings inside vehicle.
So what does Europcar Costa Rica consider as "Negligence"?
Negligence means acting in an irresponsible and deliberate manner that causes damages to Europcar’s vehicle.
COMMON NEGLIGENCE CASES:
· Improper advances, which cause collisions or vehicle to flip over.
· Running over red lights, or not obeying traffic signs, which may result in collisions or vehicle, flip over.
· Driving at a higher speed than what is established by Law for the particular road the vehicle is on.
· Driving under the influence of alcohol or drug consumption.
· Driving through rivers that are higher than half the tires’ height, or right on the beach, into the ocean or an inlet.
· Leaving keys on car doors or on the ignition while vehicle is unattended, leaving doors open or unlocked during absence.
· When the vehicle is parked in a "no parking" zone or in a place where theft or damage of the vehicle is fomented.
Personal Accident Insurance PAI :
The PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE, optional and additional, applies to all passengers in Europcar’s vehicle, including the driver. No excess is applied. It includes the Public Liability Policy, covering all public liability not covered by the contract, which may be generated by the car rental service offered to the insured party within national territory. It also includes the Automobile Seat Policy, which applies to the vehicle’s driver as well as the other occupants, and covers bodily injuries due to the unexpected action of any violent, fortuitous, and sudden external agent.
PAI cover is does not apply If and when a number of passengers exceeding the maximum capacity established by the manufacturer is traveling in the vehicle.
Tire Damage Cover TDC :
By purchasing the new protection TDC, the customer can be worry free if something should happen to the tires (flats or damages to the rubbers). This protection does not include damage made to the wheels.
Is the TDC worth it?
As a preventive measure, we really do recommend this protection. In recent times, we have had several reports on vandal gangs working near the airport or coming in to San Jose, that puncture tires with a sharp object when vehicles are at a stop light, causing a flat to vehicle rental customers. When the customer stops to check what’s wrong, these vandals gladly approach him/her offering their help to change the flat, and during this distraction they proceed to steal valuables from inside the vehicle.
This is why we advise our customers of the following:
Whenever they get a flat tire near the airport or coming into San Jose, or in a place where they feel someone is following them, we STRONGLY recommend NOT to accept any help in these cases, and if they do so, we advise to watch out for their personal belongings, be very careful and aware of the person(s) helping out and never show any money they are carrying.
We also advise to drive with doors locked at all times and windows up when in San Jose Downtown or in secluded places.

- You must produce a valid credit card with an expiry date after the due check-in date or a valid Europcar charge card at pick up time. If you use a Europcar prepaid voucher as means of payment (with a Full Credit, Specified value or the mention 'Group & Days apply'), you must also present your own credit card for those charges that have not been prepaid (such as extras, Traffic Fine, Salik Toll charges, refueling charge, excess due in the event of damage to or loss of the rented vehicle). These Terms and Conditions apply to all rentals that commence in the Republic of Ireland. If you are booking a car through the .ie website for a rental in a country other than Ireland, please refer to the Terms and Conditions for that country as they are the Terms and Conditions that will apply to your rental. Please note that they may differ from the following terms for Ireland due to local legal requirements.
What is included in my rate?
Your rate is inclusive of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Theft Waiver (TW), airport/location surcharge, vehicle licence fee, road tax, unlimited mileage and government tax. An excess will apply to CDW and TP. If you enter a different return location to the pickup location, the one-way rental fee will be included in the price displayed to you. If during the quotation process you have stated “I live in United States of America” or “I live in Canada”, the rates you will receive are exclusive of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP). Your credit card may provide this coverage for you. Please see CDW Exclusive Rates for further information.

Over 75 and over
Drivers aged 75 and over need to provide a PRINTED medical certificate/letter which states that they are fit to drive and a letter from their insurance company stating that they are currently driving and have not had an accident within the last 5 years. This information must be received at least 5 working days in advance of your rental.
Driving Licence:
Drivers (and additional drivers) must be in possession of a full, unendorsed driving licence which they have held for at least 2 YEARS prior to the commencement of the rental. Licences must be produced in person at the Europcar location at the time of collection. Drivers must be in possession of their licence at all times when driving the vehicle. If a driver has any endorsements on their license, they must contact our Reservations Department prior to booking as there may be restrictions on renting. Failure to inform us of endorsements will result in the driver being refused the vehicle and forfeiting any deposit taken. Licences must be from the country of permanent residence. NON-EU/EEA driving licences cannot be accepted if the holder has been resident in Ireland for more than 12 months. Holders of UK, US, Canadian, Australian and all EU member states are NOT required to supply an International Driving Permit (IDP). International Driving Permits where required, MUST BE accompanied by the original domestic licence of the driver. This is clearly stated on the international permit. An International permit presented without the domestic licence, will not be accepted.
**Attention: UK Driving Licence holders**
From June 8th 2015, the UK paper part of your driving licence will no longer be valid. We will require all UK licence holders to present evidence of your driving record (entitlements/endorsements) before the vehicle can be released. This can be obtained by printing it out from the DVLA’s ‘Share Driving Licence’ section - click here (https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence) - before you collect your vehicle. We reserve the right to ask prequalifying questions on your insurance history. You may be refused a vehicle based on the answers you provide.
Credit Cards Accepted:
Europcar accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club and Discover Cards. For all 'pre-pay online' bookings, the person in whose name the vehicle is booked MUST be the person whose credit/debit card is used. This card must be presented on arrival. If you made your booking with a debit card, you will need to present the debit card and one or more credit cards (depending on the vehicle group) when picking-up the vehicle. On collection of the vehicle, Europcar can only accept credit cards for deposit purposes. At the time of rental there must be sufficient credit on your card to cover all charges including the excess/deductible amount. Payment must be made with a credit/debit card as we do not accept cash or the credit card from a third party. Holders of a 'Chip and Pin' card must know their PIN number. Regardless of the level of coverage purchased, ALL renters will be subject to a preauthorisation on their credit card of €50. This is in the event of traffic fines, toll charges etc.

Super Damage Waiver Cover (SDW) can be purchased for EUR19.30 to EUR25.54 per day depending on vehicle size (excluding commercial vans). Purchase of SDW Cover reduces the excess/deductible to zero.
CDW Exclusive Rates:
Declining Europcar CDW and TP - To decline our Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection, the driver must have a US issued World MasterCard or Canadian issued Gold/Platinum Visa/MasterCard and provide proof that the card has relevant coverage for the Republic of Ireland. If a relevant credit card and cover letter are not produced at the time of commencement of rental then our CDW and TP cover must be purchased at the local daily rates (E21 - E28 per day plus tax depending on vehicle size). The letter from your credit card company must be dated within 21 days of your pickup date and contain the credit card number (partly masked is acceptable). These cards will only be accepted for coverage for a maximum of 28 days in any one calendar year. We do not accept European cards for coverage. Please note that you must pay for your full rental with the eligible credit card in order for your card company to provide CDW and TP coverage.
**We DO NOT accept any form of CDW/PDW purchased through a third party OR Fully Comprehensive Irish Insurance Policies.***
If using your credit card to waive our CDW cover, for security reasons 5,000Euro will be pre-authorised on your card in case there is damage. If there is a damage charge, this amount can be claimed back through your credit card company. We cannot be held responsible for any exchange rate charges as a result.
This coverage is a service provided by US MasterCard OR Visa/MasterCard Canada to the cardholder and therefore it is the cardholder's responsibility to ensure that they are adequately covered for the entire duration of the rental period. We reserve the right to refuse third party insurance.
In order to establish if your US MasterCard or Canadian VisaCard/MasterCard includes Auto Rental Cover in the Republic of Ireland please call your credit card issuer and/or US MasterCard/Canadian VisaCard/MasterCard before making your reservation. It is important to confirm to your credit card issuer that the Republic of Ireland as your place of rental.

Fuel Policy
We offer two fuel options:
1. PREPAID FUEL
Customers can choose our prepaid fuel option at the beginning of their rental at our special discounted rates. For the driver's convenience, there is no need to refill the car. With this option, no refunds will be given for unused fuel. Prices for this option are set locally.
2. STANDARD REFUELLING
Customers can return the car as they wish. Should the car return less than full, the customer will be charged our standard refuelling price per litre.
No compensation will be given for fuel charges if an upgrade to a larger car is given
Flight Information:
For all rentals commencing at an airport location we ask you provide us with the correct flight number and arrival time when booking your vehicle. Flights should be scheduled to land within our opening hours. This is to ensure that if your flight is delayed, your car will be held and staff will be in place to greet you when you arrive. If this information is not available to you at the time of booking, we ask you provide us with it at least 5 days before your arrival date. Where flight information is not provided in time, or incorrect information is provided, we cannot be held responsible for a failed rental and no refund will be due.
Meet Late Arrival:
Where a flight is delayed (and we have been advised of the flight number at the time of original reservation) and the customer arrives at our desk 30 minutes or less after our closing time, no additional fee to the customer applies. If the customer arrives at our desk 30 minutes or more after our closing time, out of hours charges of €40. Please contact the branch directly for further information.
Vehicle Hold:
Vehicles will only be held for 1 hour after the booked pickup time/landing time within our opening hours if no payment information is provided at the time of reservation. Vehicles will be held until the location closes once credit card details and Driver ID are provided at the time of reservation. After this time, the vehicle may not be available.
Non prepaid reservations may be cancelled or amended up to 2 hours before the due pick up time at no extra charge to the customer. Failing to cancel the non-prepaid reservation and failure to collect the vehicle before the closing time of the reserved location station will incur a no show fee of €30 plus tax.
Maximum Length of Rental:
The maximum length of rental allowed on one booking is 35 days. For rentals of a longer duration, please make 2 reservations. Customers, who rent from us for more than 35 days in a 12 month rolling period, will be subject to the higher rate of vat at 23%. This will be recalculated locally.
Car Types:
Europcar Car Rental operates a fleet with many different makes and models of cars. Whilst every effort will be made to supply the reserved model, we reserve the right to supply a suitable alternative. Please note that we cannot guarantee a particular make or model.
Toll Information:
Drivers are responsible for the payment of their tolls (on both barriered and barrier-free toll roads) directly with the Toll Operator. Further information regarding toll rates and payment methods will be given on collection of your vehicle.
Additional Drivers:
Additional drivers can be added for a daily fee of €10.22. Additional drivers can be added on collection of the vehicle only. Please note unauthorised drivers are not covered by us and are prohibited from driving the rental car. The additional driver must be present at time of pickup and must fulfil the same age/licence criteria as the principle driver.
Baby Seats:
Baby seats are available at a cost of €6.81 per day to maximum cost of €47.67 per rental.
Booster Cushions:
Booster cushions are available at a cost of €6.81 per day to maximum cost of €47.67 per rental.
The law in Ireland states that an appropriate child restraint MUST be used.
New EU Child Safety Protection Laws have come into force making it compulsory for all children to travel in the correct child seat, booster seat or booster cushion. Where safety belts have been fitted they must be worn. Children under 3 years of age must not travel in a car unless restrained in the correct child seat. Children aged 3 years or over who are under 150cms in height and weighing less than 36 kilograms (i.e. generally children up to 11/12 years old) must use the correct child seat, booster seat or booster cushion when travelling in cars. Child car seats must be in accordance with EU or United Nations- Economic Commission for Europe (UN-ECE) standards. Drivers have a legal responsibility to ensure passengers aged under 17 use the correct seat, booster seat, booster cushion or seatbelt.
GPS Units:
Garmin Nuvi GPS units are available to rent at a cost of €12.00 per day to a maximum of €90.00 per rental.
The non-return or loss of a GPS unit will be charged to the renter at a cost of €200.
Personal Benefits Membership
PBM covers the driver for personal injuries or fatalities up to €31,750 in the event of an accident whilst in the vehicle and costs €6.81 per day. Not available on commercial vans.
Roadside Assistance:
RSA is available at a cost of €4-€6 per day and covers the driver against potential breakdown recovery costs such as use of incorrect fuel in the vehicle, assistance with the retrieval of keys locked inside a vehicle, delivery of replacement for lost keys etc. Further information will be available on collection of the vehicle. Not available on commercial vans.
Carbon Offset:
At the time of booking you can donate €3.00 which covers the cost of planting 2 trees in the Burkina Faso Desert.
Travel to Northern Ireland:
If you wish to drive in Northern Ireland, you must inform us on collection of your vehicle. There is a nominal €34.05 fee when taking a car into Northern Ireland. Cars cannot be taken off the island of Ireland at any stage and must be returned in the Republic. Failure to purchase the required cover will result in the renter accepting full responsibility for any recovery fees, should the car breakdown.
One Way Rentals:
One way rentals are permitted between branches at a cost of between €34.05 and €85.12. If you enter a different return location to the pickup location, the one way rental fee will be included in the price displayed to you. Not available on commercial vans.
Grace Period:
Drivers are allowed a one-hour period of grace provided that the vehicle is returned within our hours of operation. Drivers exceeding this will pay any extra charges directly at the local rate.
Early Returns:
We do not issue refunds for unused days.
Nor for charges paid directly on arrival in the event of the vehicle returning earlier than booked.
Car Returns:
Cars may be returned outside our location hours by prior arrangement only. Cars that are returned outside the above location opening times will be charged for any damage or any loss incurred until the car is returned to the car rental company.
Traffic Fines:
Speeding, parking and other endorsements/fines are the responsibility of the hirer in full. Europcar Car Rental accepts no responsibility for any fine or payment. The renter is obliged to inform Europcar Car Rental of any fines or parking tickets issued whilst the vehicle is being used by the renter. Where Europcar receive a fine that was not settled when issued, the total cost of the fine, plus an administration fee of €20.00, will be charged to the main driver’s credit card.
Upgrades:
If on arrival the client feels that the car they have booked is not suitable for their requirements, we will be happy to provide a larger vehicle if available. Upgrade charges are payable on arrival at the local daily rate. If a customer is given a free upgrade on arrival, we cannot accept any customer service queries regarding fuel or coverage costs.

International Driving Permit (IDP) for driving in Japan
International Driving permit based on "Geneva Convention of Road Traffic 1949" should be presented at the time of pick up.
It is the only International driving permit acceptable in order to drive in Japan. Except, presenting Japanese translation of your domestic driver's license that you can get at the Japanese embassy is also permitted if you have the domestic driver's license issued in Swiss, Germany, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Monaco and Taiwan. TPL Insurance (mandatory)
TPL – Third Party Liability coverage is a mandatory insurance that the Government traffic regulations require for all drivers in Mexico. The TPL Insurance covers up to $750,000 MXP and is included in certain rates. Liability Insurance Products purchased on third party travel websites are not accepted in Mexico.
Third Party Liability is a car insurance that covers against death and or bodily injury to any third party; in an accident caused by or arising out of the use of the insured vehicle (people inside the car are not covered by TPL, and are only covered if optional Auto Personal Accident insurance has been included in the agreed policy package).
Please note that certain rates include liability insurance up to 750,000 Mexican Pesos, with these rates SLI is optional and there will be no credit card hold for declining SLI. In addition, these rates limit the deposit for the collision Damage waiver to a maximum of $2,500.
IMPORTANT INSURANCE INFORMATION For travelers resident in foreign countries
Europcar Mexico strongly recommends that all foreign travelers purchase the optional SLI coverage (Supplemental Liability Insurance) which provides similar or higher coverage amounts for claims and indemnities to the ones you find in your country of residence. The SLI coverage provides up to $1,000,000 USD per event (people inside the car are not covered by TPL, and are only covered if optional Auto Personal Accident insurance has been included in the agreed policy package).
The SLI coverage is separate from the mandatory TPL coverage and is available at an additional charge of $16.99USD per day plus applicable taxes, for all type of vehicles.
If you decline the SLI coverage, you will be covered just by the mandatory TPL insurance with a coverage limit of $750,000 Mexican pesos per event or approximately $50,000 USD.
LDW Insurance
LDW (CDW) – Loss and Damage Waiver is available at $19.99USD per day plus applicable taxes for all types of vehicles. LDW (CDW) reduces the customer's responsibility for all vehicles. In the case of accident or theft the customer is only responsible for paying deductible (or excess) of 10% of the total value of the car.
The LDW (CDW) is optional and is typically purchased by customers that are not covered for vehicle damage or loss by their Credit Card Company (or insurance linked to a credit card). For your own protection we prefer that all customers present a valid letter or proof of coverage from his credit card issuing institution with a verifiable phone number and/or e-mail address for confirmation, stating that LDW (CDW) coverage is provided by his/her credit card. All international travelers must present as well a letter of approval from the CNSF (Comisión Nacional de Seguros y Fianzas) the official Government Institution that regulates Insurance companies in Mexico. If customer does have the appropriate approval and coverage from its credit card institution they will have to sign a “statement of personal responsibility for the total value of the car” should they decline the LDW (CDW) and wish to be covered by their Credit Card Company. In the event of an accident, a customer having declined LDW (CDW) will be fully responsible for all damage and/or repairs up to the total value of the car.
A deposit starting at $2,500 USD and up to $10,000 USD (depending on the reservation channel/website or the category of the vehicle, please refer to the category list mentioned here below) will be held on the customer's credit card as a guarantee at the beginning of the rental and it will be reimbursed when the vehicle is returned safe. If the customer credit card does not have the guarantee previously mentioned the purchase of the LDW (CDW) coverage will be mandatory.
