Rent a car at Cape Town International Airport with Europcar

Cape Town International Airport is one of South Africa’s largest airports. The airport is situated just twenty kilometres from the vibrant centre of Cape Town and is close to a variety of fantastic attractions.

If you are looking to start exploring from the moment your feet touch the ground, the Europcar team can be found within the Car Rental Terminal, just a short walk from arrivals.

Discover Cape Town and surroundings by car

A beautiful port city nestled on South Africa’s south-west coast, Cape Town is brimming with adventure, culture and beautiful scenery. There’s a wealth of things to see and do here and with a hire car you’ll be able to enjoy top attractions such as Table Mountain – which is easily one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks – and the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens which rests on the east slope of the mountain.

Other top spots include Constantia Valley – an integral part of South Africa’s wine industry located approximately just south of central Cape Town – and how about continuing south to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point? This picturesque peninsula divides the Atlantic Ocean and False Bay and is therefore home to an array of breath-taking coastlines.

If you want to stay a little closer to the city centre, the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is bustling with activity around the clock and as well as offering beautiful views of Table Mountain, you’ll also find an array of shopping centres, eateries and notable attractions such as the Two Oceans Aquarium.

Cape Town and the surrounding cities are sure to keep you extremely busy, but if you want to explore South Africa more extensively, there are numerous national parks and coastal bays to discover. You could even plan a north-easterly route up toward Johannesburg.

Driving in Cape Town

When driving in South Africa, it’s important to understand that although main roads tend to be well-maintained and signposted, smaller roads may be in poor condition. For this reason, it’s a good idea to plan your route carefully and to not go too far off the beaten track – don’t worry, many of the best places to visit see a constant flow of traffic and are easily accessible.

For safety reasons, avoid having anything of value on display even when you’re in the vehicle. Keep your car doors locked as you travel.

With regards to parking, look for official parking garages of which you’ll find plenty near main attractions like the waterfront. Beware of self-appointed parking attendants who may offer to park your car for you for a set fee.

Travel in style

Cape Town is a wonderfully picturesque part of the world and what better way to explore the delights of this historic port city than by car? Our fleet of new, comfortable vehicles is extensive, so whether you want something small and compact or spacious with plenty of legroom – we can help. Browse what’s on offer today and book online in just three simple steps.

Tour Table Mountain

Located to the south of the city and dominating the Cape Town skyline is the flat-topped Table Mountain – one of South Africa’s most-iconic landmarks. There’s plenty to do here from hikes and walks to abseiling and audio tours with Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens being a particular highlight for both locals and tourists alike. You could even take a cable car to the summit!

Explore far and wide

With fuel in the tank and a passion for travel, why not travel extensively throughout Cape Town and beyond? South Africa is home to a wealth of gems including the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point as well as beautiful coastlines that stretch for miles and miles! What’s stopping you?
