What is the cost of charging and how do you pay for it?
You can charge your electric vehicle at all types of charging stations.
Prices will vary depending on the country, the charging provider, and the station’s power level.
If you’re using a charging station on a motorway, some energy networks may require you to subscribe or pay a fixed fee per charge, in addition to a variable rate per kWh.
That said, charging an electric vehicle is still generally more economical than refueling with petrol or diesel.
Most public charging stations do not accept credit card payments. Some highway chargers may allow payment by phone, but in most cases, you’ll need to register with a charging provider and use a specific RFID card to activate the charge.
To make things easier, we offer a no-subscription, pay-as-you-go solution through our partner Shell Recharge for Europe and Plugshare for Australia & New Zealand.
You can register easily by downloading the Shell Recharge app or Plugshare app (if you are in Australia or New Zealand). After entering your personal information, your Shell Recharge RFID card can be provided to you when you pick up your rental vehicle.
Full details and instructions will be shared with you before your rental begins.
