How can we help you ?

Late Return Charges

If you return the vehicle later than the date and time agreed in your rental contract, here’s what you need to know:

  • No contact within 24 hours? We may consider the vehicle unlawfully appropriated and may report it to local authorities.
  • Additional charges:
    • You may be charged for each extra day at the current daily rental rate.
    • A fixed fee of €50 per day (net and you need to convert in the local currency) may also apply for each day the vehicle is kept beyond the agreed return date.
    • These fees may not apply if you can prove the delay was beyond your control and not your fault.
  • Other possible costs:
    • Europcar may claim compensation for any damages, fines, penalties, or sanctions incurred during the late return period.
    • This includes costs related to identification requests or investigations from public authorities.
  • Legal action: We reserve the right to take legal steps to recover the vehicle. In such cases, any additional protections or services linked to the rental may no longer apply.

We recommend informing us as soon as possible if you’re unable to return the vehicle on time.
