How Do Tolls and Congestion Charges Work With My Rental?
Before renting, you might be wondering how to easily manage toll or congestion charge payments—especially if you're coming from abroad or traveling abroad from the UK.
In all countries, as a renter, you are responsible for paying any tolls or congestion charges incurred during your rental period.
In some selected countries, we offer rental vehicles equipped with toll badges in partnership with local toll operators.
By example
- Portugal: we include the toll management service with the Via Verde transponder in the vehicle, provided you pick-up your vehicle at one of our Portuguese branch.)
- Ireland: For the M50 motorway around Dublin, which uses a barrier-free tolling system, Europcar has partnered with eFlow to facilitate toll payments. The toll cost plus an administrative fee are automatically added to your booking and charged as part of your rental agreement.
- European motorways toll Stickers (eg Switzerland or Austria) are not included in the rental prices.
Availability and pricing conditions may vary depending on the rental country or may be affected by recent regulations change, and we recommend checking our terms and conditions for your destination country.
When you pick up the vehicle, the Europcar staff will be able to inform you about local toll regulations and to guide you to avoid any surprises related to toll fees. Feel free to ask questions upon arrival!
