Insurances:

TPL:
Third Party Liability coverage is a mandatory insurance which the Mexican government traffic regulations require for all drivers in Mexico. Third Party Liability covers damages up to MXP250,000 and is included in certain rates. TPL must be paid in addition to the daily rental amount, unless the rate expressly mentions that it is included. Third Party Liability Insurance products purchased on third party travel websites are not accepted in Mexico. Third Party Liability offers cover for bodily injury, death and/or property damage to any third party involved in an accident caused by or arising out of the use of the insured vehicle (people inside the rental car are not covered by TPL and are only covered if optional PAI cover has been added to the rental agreement)

SLI:
Supplementary Liability Insurance is strongly recommended for all foreign travellers. The purchase of the optional SLI cover provides cover up to USD1,000,000 for bodily injury, death and/or property damage to any third party involved in an accident caused by or arising out of the use of the insured vehicle (people inside the rental car are not covered by SLI and are only covered if optional PAI cover has been added to the rental agreement). The SLI coverage is in addition to the mandatory TPL cover and is available at an additional charge of USD20 per day plus applicable taxes and fees, for all types of vehicles.

LDW - Loss and Damage Waiver is the combination of CDW and THW. LDW covers all partial or total damages to the vehicle and total theft. Therefore, partial theft, damages due to meteorological phenomena, damages caused by vandalism, riots, strike, coup or any other political or social movement are not covered by this insurance. In case of damage or theft, the customer is only responsible for paying the deductible/excess of ca 20% of the total value of the vehicle. LDW is available at USD30 per day plus applicable taxes and fees for all types of vehicles and is typically purchased by customers who are not covered for vehicle damage or loss by their Credit Card/Third Party Insurance. Customers with Credit Card/Third Party LDW  must provide a document from their insurance company with a verifiable phone number and/or email address for confirmation. The document must expressively  state that the credit card insurance includes LDW ( Loss and Damage Waiver). All credit card/Third Party insurance comapnies which this type of insurance must be regulated by the “Comision Nacional de Seguros y Finanzas” which is the Mexican government institution regulating all insurance companies in México. If a customer has the appropriate approval and coverage from their credit card institution, they will have to sign a statement of personal responsibility for the total value of the car and acknowledgment of potentially additional charges linked to damage/loss of the vehicle. For customers who do not have the required documentation, LDW will become mandatory.

SPLDW: Super Loss Damage Waiver (zero excess) relieves the customer of all financial responsability (no excess due), except for specific cases in which there is presumed negligence. SPLDW costs USD30 per day plus applicable taxes and fees and is only available to customers who already have TPL and LDW included in their rate or have added these coverages at the counter. The above-mentioned coverage will only apply if the customer strictly follows the clauses in the rental contract, meaning that that any breach of contract will invalidate the protection and the customer will then assume full responsibility for all damages incurred. Glass, wheels, tires and rims, and stolen accessories are not covered.

PAI : Personal Accident Insurance provides cover for medical expenses incurred as a result of injuries suffered; and /or a lump sum indemnity if you are disabled or you die as a result of a collision (or an accident) in the rented vehicle.  This insurance covers up to MXP120,000 and costs USD10 per day plus applicable taxes and fees in all types of cars.

WWI: Glass and Tire protection is available at USD20 per day plus applicable taxes and fees per day in all types of vehicles. A 20% excess/deductible will be charged per event.

RSA: The Emergency Roadside Assistance service is optional and provides additional services to the standard roadside assistance which is included in all rates. The price is USD5 per day plus applicable taxes and fees per day in all types of vehicles and it includes the following services: Battery charge/replacement, Opening of the vehicle if the keys are left inside, Flat Tire replacement, Refueling. These additional services are chargeable under the standard roadside assistance.

All of the above packages exclude crane/recovery services. Should crane/recovery services be required, these will be charged separately to the driver.
