Rent a car in Östersund with Europcar

Östersund is literally located in the middle of Sweden, in midland Scandinavia, at the shores of Sweden’s fifth largest lake Storsjön (the great lake). Known as the ‘Winter City’, it is famous for both its location to nearby nature and its outdoor activities, all year around. The city has a modern cross-country ski stadium only 2 km away, and actual ski trails in the city itself. So, if you are into cross-country skiing, go ahead and hit the trails at Gustavsbergsbacken and Ladängen. Stop by the Badhusparken waterfront where you can swim, sun bathe and relax in the summer or ice-skate in the winter. Visit Gaaltije, the centre for South Sami culture, or the national city hall which are both landmarks of Östersund. And don’t forget to ask locals to tell you stories about Storsjöodjuret, the Swedish counterpart of the Loch Ness Monster, a mysterious creature from the lake.

There is no major city nearby, so be prepared to drive into the wilderness. Östersund is the perfect gateway for explorations — by car of course!
