Driving in Melbourne

City When touring Melbourne and beyond, always stay on the left hand side of the road unless you are overtaking traffic. Take your time to navigate unfamiliar roads and beware of traffic cameras and hook turn intersections which sometimes spring out of nowhere.

While roads such as the CityLink toll make getting around easier and link the city to travel hubs such as Melbourne Airport, it’s still advisable to leave plenty of time for your journey. Rush hour periods tend to fall from 7-9am and 5-7pm during the week with traffic also building up on a Saturday.

With regards to leaving your car, on-street parking is available, or you may prefer to use one of the designated parking buildings dotted throughout the city.
