What should I do if my rental vehicle is stolen or involved in a theft or break-In?
We’re sorry to hear that you’re facing this situation. If your rental vehicle has been stolen or involved in an attempted theft or break-in, please follow these steps to ensure the right actions are taken quickly and safely. We’re here to support you:
1. Report the Theft to the Police
- Contact the local police immediately and file a report.
- You’ll need to provide Europcar with either a police report or proof that the incident was reported.
2. Notify Europcar
- Call us as soon as possible using the roadside assistance number available on the Europcar website for your destination country.
- Inform the rental station within 24 hours of discovering the theft.
- You must return the keys to us within 48 hours of reporting the theft.
3. Protection and Responsibility
- If you purchased Theft Waiver cover, and you’ve followed the steps above, your liability will be limited to the Excess amount, plus any applicable fees as listed in the Tariff Guide.
- Please note that you won’t be covered if:
- The vehicle was left unlocked.
- The keys were left inside the vehicle.
- The vehicle was not returned within 48 hours of reporting the theft.
- Personal belongings left in the vehicle are not covered under this protection.
