2007-11-27Europcar announces the appointment of Charles Desmartis as its new Chief financial Officer. Charles Desmartis replaces Gerhard Noack, who will retire at the end of the year after serving in this position since 1999.

 

Charles Desmartis joined Schlumberger in 1992 and worked as regional financial controller in several European countries until 1999, when he was appointed worldwide controller for Schlumberger Resource Management Services.

From 2001 to 2002, he was the Director of Internal Audit for Schlumberger Limited. In 2003 he was appointed Vice-President Finance of Axalto, the smart cards and payment terminals subsidiary of Schlumberger, and carried out the initial public offering of this business on the Paris stock exchange in May 2004.

In June 2006, Axalto merged with Gemplus to become Gemalto, the world leader in digital security. As Chief Financial Officer of the Gemalto group, Charles played a key role in the financial integration of the two companies.

 


Charles Desmartis is a graduate from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) and from Stanford University, where he obtained a Master of Science in Management degree.
